VOXX Press Conference Celebrates 70 Years of Klipsch

70 years is a long time. Few companies make it that far. Klipsch, one of the survivors, and a storied company at that, is now under the VOXX corporate umbrella, and VOXX is celebrating its 70th anniversary.

Inventor, audio pioneer, and individualist Paul W. Klipsch founded the company in 1946 and soon his high-efficiency loudspeakers became synonymous with the developing field of high fidelity. Now VOXX is upholding that tradition with a number of new Klipsch products, as well as two very old Klipsch products.

Perhaps the most interesting product announcement, and most fitting for an anniversary celebration, is a handcrafted limited edition run of legendary Klipschorn and Heresy speakers. Each model will be finished in exotic wood veneers with special edition logos and unique grille cloths. No word on pricing, but if you want a pair, I suspect you should contact an authorized dealer fast. Very fast.

The Klipsch Reference Premiere HD Wireless speaker system uses the existing Reference Premiere platform and adds a HD Control Center to enable lossless and wireless audio transmission. The system can be upgraded from 2.0 to 7.2 channels; free ongoing upgrades are also offered. The RP-440W towers are priced at $999 each, RP-140WM monitors are $999/pair, the RP-440WC center channel is $499, and RP-110SW subwoofer is $799. The HD Control Center is $499. The system will be available in March at Magnolia stores.

The Reference Premiere R-15PM powered monitors are designed for playback from sources such as television, computer, wireless device, or turntable. It features Bluetooth, digital optical, analog RCA, USB audio, and phono pre-amp inputs. A pair of retro-designed speakers, inspired by the Heritage series, will use the same technology as the R-15PM. The R-15PM monitors are priced at $499/pair and are available now.

Five new Klipsch sound bars will all offer HDMI connectivity and some will have Play-Fi as well. A Klipsch Reference Premiere theater bar will also be introduced. Also look for new Klipsch in-ear and over-ear headphones. All in all, the Klipsch name is alive and well at VOXX.
