Spock, what is… this thing?

Berkeley, CA based importer/distributor extraordinaire, Sumiko has done the unthinkable, bringing Pro-Ject’s RM-10 turntable to CEDIA 2006.

Some of the more aged members of our audience may have heard tell of these devices. They mechanically playback vinyl LP records by physically dragging a “stylus” through the grooves cut into the vinyl.

Analog is still going surprisingly strong, and while I might lose my home theater credentials for saying so, vinyl is still the highest resolution audio there is. Sumiko and Pro-Ject team up to offer compelling vinyl playback solutions starting at around $300.
