Snowsound USA Optimizes Room Acoustics

Snowsound USA previewed a patented, variable density acoustic panel that eliminates echos and selectively absorbs low-, mid-, and high-frequency sounds to optimize room acoustics. Inspired by nature, the panels are intended to create a “more peaceful environment” by mimicking the sound absorbing properties of freshly fallen snow. (Everybody’s got an angle…)

“We want to balance the acoustics of the room without eliminating certain sounds,” explained Michael Dardashti, director of business development. The polyester panels are available in nine colors— white, silver/grey, beige, yellow, orange, red, green, blue, and black—and three shapes: the Mitesco rectangular panel; the artsy Flap panel, which swivels and rotates; and a portable panel for freestanding applications called Corista. Multiple Flap panels can be arranged to achieve geometric wall “sculptures.”

The panels are easy to install and available in different sizes to accommodate a variety of wall, ceiling, and freestanding applications. As long as panels are evenly distributed they will absorb unwanted sounds no matter how they are arranged, according to the company.

“Unlike other panels that have external frames, each Snowsound panel is a one-piece, double-sided unit, meaning it will absorb sound from both sides in a freestanding installation,” Dardashti said, adding that the panels are 100 percent recyclable. Prices range from $225 to $385 per panel.
