SI Shows Portable, Mount-Anywhere Screen

Screen Innovations had plenty of products to show at CEDIA, including indoor and outdoor motorized shades, and an outdoor light-management solution called Sail that was developed in consultation with, you guessed it, nautical sail designers. But the most blog-worthy thing in SI’s booth was its new Solo screen.

The portable, motorized Solo packs a Zero Edge version of the company’s Slate 1.2 ambient light-rejecting screen and uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that the company says can run for two years on a single charge. The screen’s box is waterproof, and a line of related accessories including suction cups let you mount it anywhere, even on a van or airstream at tailgate parties.

Solo screens are also available in a Solo Pro version that lets you use both the company’s Slate and Pure screen materials in standard, acoustically transparent, or rear-projection varieties. They additionally come in 12 color options that let you match the screen box with a room’s decor. Both the Solo and Solo Pro will be available in November at screen sizes up to 120 inches. Prices start at $1,600.
