Roost’s Smart Sensor Warns of Floods and Freezes

On the eve of CES 2017, Smart sensor-maker, Roost, announced the availability of the company’s latest smart sensor that’s designed to alert homeowners to dangerous or destructive conditions occurring in their homes.

The new Roost Smart Water and Freeze Detector (RSW-200), is a multi-function, stand-alone sensor designed to detect water leaks, humidity, and freezing/high temperatures. Used in conjunction with the Roost App (iOS 8+ or Android 4.2+ devices), the 802.11 (b/g/n) Wi-Fi-enabled Smart Water and Freeze Detector sends alerts to designated smartphones or user-added “trusted contacts”. The new Roost sensor’s trigger ranges for temperature and humidity can be set by the user through the Roost App, as well.

Weighing only four ounces, the oval-shaped Detector is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. The device runs on 4 AAA alkaline batteries, which are included in the box. As a result, no connection to a power outlet is required; so it can be placed in virtually any location that needs monitoring for the presence of water/humidity or extreme temperatures. Roost also offers an optional 4-ft external water sensor cable for installations requiring remote positioning.

Roost’s Smart Water and Freeze Detector is available for pre-order now for $49.99 with shipping expected to begin in February, 2017.
