Pioneer Elite PRO-1000HD Plasma HD Monitor HT Labs Measures

The top chart shows the gray scale of the Elite PRO-1000HD monitor relative to its color temperature at various levels of intensity, or brightness (20 IRE is dark gray; 100 IRE is bright white). As you can see, the gray scale as set by the factory, in the Mid Low menu setting, measures 5,600 Kelvin with dark images and leans more toward 6,300 K with brighter images. After making adjustments using the Philips PM 5639 color analyzer, the gray scale measures within 20 degrees of D6500, the accurate setting, across the entire range. The bottom chart shows the gray scale (or color temperature) relative to the color points of the display's red, green, and blue plasma phosphors. The color points match those specified by SMPTE, which means that the monitor will display the colors available in the system. The gray scale tracked OK before calibration and is more accurate afterward. The maximum light output was approximately 68 foot-lamberts. The display has fair DC restoration. The Elite PRO-1000HD has an OK color decoder and leans toward red. The display held the alignment well over a three-week time period.—RW
