Musical Fidelity B1xi Integrated Amplifier Revives the B-Series

Musical Fidelity has introduced the B1xi, an integrated amplifier that revives the company’s B-Series lineup and echoes the original B1 from the 1990s. The new model is a pure transistor class-A/B design rated at 60 watts per channel into 8 ohms and up to 140 watts into 2 ohms.

In contrast to many modern integrated amps, the B1xi omits Wi-Fi and displays, focusing instead on core audio performance and analog usability. The amplifier’s power stage is fully discrete, and digital connectivity includes coaxial, optical, and ARC HDMI inputs, as well as Bluetooth 5.1. All digital inputs are implemented on separate boards with dedicated linear power supplies.

Musical Fidelity says the decision to exclude streaming features and displays was deliberate, citing concerns over long-term reliability and obsolescence. The company points out that many of its amplifiers built 25 years ago or more are still in use today, and the B1xi is intended to continue that tradition of serviceability and longevity.

Housed in a full-metal chassis with traditional analog controls, the B1xi is designed for straightforward operation and long-term ownership. Available August 2025 for $879 USD / $1,229 CAD.
