KEF Unveils Lower-Priced Version of Award-Winning LSX II Streaming Speaker

Renowned British speaker brand KEF today introduced the LSX II LT, a less expensive version the LSX II wireless streaming speaker system that received a Sound & Vision Top Pick in 2022 for its superb performance and versatility.

The new LT iteration looks identical to (and is the same size of) the original LSX II speaker but has a streamlined set of features and sells for $1,000/set — $300 less than the original’s current selling price. Both models feature KEF’s W2 streaming platform and the 11th generation of its signature Uni-Q coincident driver, which in this case mates a 4.5-inch magnesium/aluminum woofer with a 0.75-inch aluminum-dome tweeter.

Like the original LSX II, system control is via the KEF Connect app or a remote handset and the new LSX II LT supports streaming via Bluetooth 5.0 plus direct access (via Wi-Fi) to Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer, Amazon Music, and internet radio streaming services. Multiroom playback is supported via AirPlay 2 and Chromecast, which enables music to be streamed from apps on a mobile device over Wi-Fi.

The system supports all major audio formats, including DSD and PCM up to 24 bits/382 kHz, and the KEF Connect app includes an equalizer that is not accessible via the remote control.

Unlike the original LSX II, the LT version is not Roon Ready and lacks MQA processing. And except for an analog 3.5-mm minijack input, which is missing on the new LT version, connectivity options are the same with the inclusion of ARC-enabled HDMI, USB-C, and optical digital.

Another key difference: Both LSX II speakers are active (with onboard Class D power), whereas one of the LSX II LT speakers contains power for both speakers, requiring a wired connection between the active and passive speaker. On the plus side, the system requires only one power connection to the active speaker. Rated power output is 100 watts — 70 watts to the woofer and 30 watts to the tweeter — with a max SPL rating of 102 dB and low-frequency limit of 54 Hz (±3 dB), depending on EQ settings.

The LSX II LT system comes with mounting inserts for securing the speakers on the optional P1 desk pad or S1 stand. The proprietary cable that runs between the speakers is 10 feet long but KEF offers a longer, 26-foot cable at extra cost.

LSX II LT is offered in gray, white, or green. For more information, visit us.kef.com
