June 2015 New Gear

A mirror TV to spice up your kitchen, sweet sunburst speakers that echo an iconic guitar (can you guess which one?), a Bluetooth—yes, Bluetooth—turntable, a soundbar for Connoisseurs, and more.

Electric Mirror Gallery Kitchen TV
Tired of cranking up the sound on the TV in the adjoining family room and straining to watch CNN while eating breakfast? Or maybe cartoons and Cocoa Puffs are your thing (we’re not here to judge). Either way, you’ll appreciate having the sleek Gallery TV in your kitchen. Its 15.6-inch 720p/1080i LED/LCD screen is set in a 20 x 13-inch faceplate that mounts flush in the wall.
Mirror, Mirror: Faceplate options include black, white, green, and mirror glass, brushed stainless steel, or you can go with the full Iris mirror so the TV “disappears” when it’s turned off. You can feed audio to existing speakers or order the optional WallWaves invisible speakers. Waterproof remote included. Price: $1,899-$2,099, depending on faceplate

Gibson Les Paul Reference Monitors
The iconic Les Paul guitar, axe of choice for countless guitar gods, is echoed in the design of three powered monitors: The LP2 ($599), LP4 ($799), and LP6 ($999). Each is a two-way, biamped design with a 1-inch titanium tweeter and non-woven carbon woofer (4, 6, and 8 inches, respectively). System power, rated at less than 0.2 percent THD+N, is 103 watts for the 10-inch-tall LP2 and 247 watts for its big brothers, which stand 14 and 18.5 inches tall.
Sweet Sunburst: The face of each speaker is carved maple—just like the guitar—and available in three classic gloss finishes: cherry, cherry burst, and tobacco burst. The speakers accept RCA and balanced TRS/XLR inputs and have multi-position switches for adjusting bass and treble.

Ion Audio Aire LP Bluetooth Turntable
You think you’ve seen it all, and along comes a wireless turntable. With the belt-driven Air LP you can stream vinyl treasures to any Bluetooth speaker without the “restriction of cumbersome hookup cables.” (Why you’d want to do that is another matter, but you have to admit it is cool and hipsters will dig it.)
Auxiliary Bonus: The table sports a minijack input for bestowing wireless action upon other source components and has a USB port so you can send audio to your PC and create digital files using EZ Vinyl/Tape Converter software (USB cable included). Air LP comes with a set of RCA cables and a 45 rpm adapter so you can spin/stream some Bill Haley while you Rock Around the Clock. Price: $149

Energy Connoisseur CS-30 Soundbar
The speaker gurus at Energy have finally gotten around to adding a soundbar to the Connoisseur series they trotted out a couple decades ago. About time, eh? The bar sports a predictably simple stereo design with two 0.75-inch textile dome tweeters, each paired with a 3-inch woofer, and is equipped with Dolby Digital and 3D surround processing. You have the choice of an optical digital input (cable included) or analog inputs for older TVs. If you want to listen to music, the CS-30 supports Bluetooth wireless streaming and aptX coding for improved sound quality.
Worth the Wait: A wireless subwoofer with a side-firing 8-inch driver and slot port rounds out the package. The sub pairs automatically with the mothership and is rated down to 27 hertz. Price: $600
