Hitachi 43UWX10B 43-Inch HD Monitor HT Labs Measures
The top chart shows the gray scale of the 43UWX10B HD monitor relative to its color temperature at various levels of intensity, or brightness (20 IRE is dark gray; 95 IRE is bright white). As you can see, the gray scale as set by the factory, in the most accurate menu setting, measures very blue with dark images and bluer with brighter images. After making adjustments using the Photo Research PR-650, the gray scale measures within 300 degrees of D6500 Kelvin, the accurate setting, across the entire range. The bottom chart shows the gray scale (or color temperature) relative to the color points of the display's red, green, and blue phosphors. The red and blue color points are outside those specified by SMPTE, and the green is way outside, which means the display will reproduce almost all of the colors available in the system. The gray scale measures 7,200 degrees before calibration and 6,580 afterward. The light output was approximately 33 foot-lamberts for testing. The maximum light output at full contrast is 171 ft-L. The display has poor DC restoration in NTSC and the same with progressive-scan input. The 43UWX10B HD monitor has a good color decoder pushing toward the red hue.—RW
