Hisense today announced that it is now shipping the C1 portable 4K laser projector it previewed in January at CES 2023.

The C1 ($2,300) is the first product in a new line of portable long-throw projectors designed to provide a “cinematic experience” almost anywhere. Capable of projecting images between 65 and 300 inches (diagonal) in size, it is one of very few projectors to support Dolby Vision high dynamic range (HDR) and is built around the company’s RGB TriChroma Laser Light Engine, which has a brightness rating of 1,600 ANSI lumens and is said to cover 110% of the BT.2020 color space.

Since the C1 is intended to create a big-screen movie experience wherever it is placed, it is designed for easy setup and includes auto focus and auto keystone correction to ensure images are sharp and picture geometry is correct.

Advancing the trend toward smart projectors, the C1 is based on Hisense’s VIDAA smart TV platform, which provides ready access to Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, and hundreds of other streaming applications.

The projector has a built-in 20-watt JBL speaker system and supports Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital surround sound as well as streaming via Apple’s AirPlay platform. Connections include two HDMI ports (one HDMI 2.1 with e-ARC support), two USB ports (one USB 3.0), optical digital and analog audio outputs, and an Ethernet port.
