Formovie Launches 120” ‘Floor Rising’ ALR Screen with $400 Discount

The Chinese video projection brand Formovie has introduced a motorized 120-inch (diagonal) ambient-light rejecting (ALR) screen that rises up from a slender enclosure that sits on the floor.

Operated by a hand-held remote or via an app with Alexa or Google voice commands, the Formovie 120” Floor Rising UST ALR Projector Screen is similar in concept to the Elite Screens Kestrel model we reviewed a couple years ago. Once activated, the screen rises to its peak (or retracts) in about 30 seconds.

Designed for use in any room — even those exposed to sunlight — the screen rejects “up to 90%” of ambient light and boasts a wide 160° viewing angle, according to Formovie. The screen has a 16:9 aspect ratio and is tensioned to ensure a flat, wrinkle-free projection surface. It even has holes at the bottom to allow sound from speakers placed behind the screen to pass through. In addition to the remote, the screen has a USB trigger that connects to the projector.

The Floor Rising screen is priced at $2,699 but in an effort to jump start sales out of the gate, the company is offering an immediate $400 discount that drops the price to $2,299. The offer is good through Sunday, August 11.

The screen is designed for use with UST, including Formovie’s own Theater 4K laser projector. Ironically, Formovie was called out just last month for overstating brightness specs for that projector. A year earlier, its Chinese sister company, Wemax, was implicated for publishing deceptive brightness specs for its Nova series of UST projectors.
