Epson’s UST Projector Is Ready for Its Close Up

Epson is showing its new Home Cinema LS100 digital laser projector at CEDIA, a 1080p ultra short-throw LCD model capable of beaming a 130-inch picture from a distance of less than 2 feet from a screen.

The Full HD 1080p-rez projector is spec’d by Epson for 4000 lumens color and white brightness. It accepts Ultra HD signals, and the laser-based light engine is capable of displaying images with a wide color gamut. In its booth, the company had the LS100 positioned 18 inches from a 120-inch Da-Lite Parallax screen, an ambient light rejecting model designed for ultra short-throw applications. The picture looked satisfyingly bright in the moderately dim environment, and it displayed good uniformity and sharpness from the center to the edges of the screen.

The Home Cinema LS100 will be available this fall for $2999 from Amazon, Magnolia, and CEDIA installers.
