Denon Previews New Low-Priced AV Receivers

Denon today announced the addition of two budget models to its S Series of entry-level AV receivers.

Slated to ship in mid-August and available for preorder, the 7.2-channel AVR-S770H ($649) and the 5.2-channel AVR-S670H ($549) are intended for small to mid-sized home theater systems and offer an impressive range of features for the price.

The S770H is equipped with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X surround sound processing and ready to power a 7.2 system or a 5.2.2 setup with two height channels. The AVR-S670H has two fewer channels and provides surround processing in the form of Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD Master, and DTS Neo:6.

Both models have a two-channel power spec of 75 watts/channel (8 ohms with 0.08% distortion) and support 8K with 8K/60 and 4K/120 passthrough on three of their six HDMI inputs in addition to accommodating Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and HLG high-dynamic range (HDR).

Other standard features on the S770H and S670H include an intuitive setup assistant with Audyssey MultEQ room correction, Bluetooth streaming, and multiroom wireless streaming via Denon’s Wi-Fi-based HEOS platform, which supports Alexa voice control and provides access to Spotify, Pandora, Tidal, and other streaming services. The S770H also supports streaming via Apple’s AirPlay 2 platform.
