Mounting a Flat-Panel HDTV

You can find TV wall mounts in Best Buy, Costco, Walmart, and the Home Depot, so it must not be too hard to put one up, right? Well, if you have a typical sheetrock wall with wood stud construction, you shouldn’t have too much difficulty. Finding the studs to lag the screws into is the most important thing, followed by making sure the mount is attached to the wall level. Unless you have some construction background, I wouldn’t recommend trying to tackle a mount into concrete, brick, or steel studs.

Tools required: Drill, level, tape measure, extra help to lift TV (screws, nuts, bolts, etc., included with wall mount).

Prerequisite: Being able to locate a stud and having no fear of making holes in your wall.

Estimated time: 1 to 2 hours.

Difficulty: 6.
