This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the VR3 L/R (purple trace), PV900 subwoofer (blue trace), VRC center channel (green trace), and VRX surround (red trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.

The VR3's listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +2.84/–2.44 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. The –3dB point is at 42 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 35 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 3.40 ohms at 132 Hz and a phase angle of +53.47 degrees at 1.2 kHz.

The VRC's listening-window response measures +1.92/–2.80 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. An average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal responses measures +2.30/–2.75 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3dB point is at 109 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 78 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.13 ohms at 62 Hz and a phase angle of –36.41 degrees at 51 Hz.

The VRX's three-face averaged response measures +0.88/–2.34 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3dB point is at 93 Hz, and the –6dB point is at 77 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.10 ohms at 347 Hz and a phase angle of –74.82 degrees at 129 Hz.

The PV900's close-miked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3dB point is at 25 Hz and the –6dB point is at 23 Hz. The upper –3dB point is at 247 Hz using the Bypass input.—MJP
