Atlantic Tech Goes Wireless With Google Cast

Speaker maker Atlantic Technology will complement its lineup of speakers and soundbars with its first wireless multiroom-audio speaker, which will feature Google Cast, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The product, unveiled by founder Peter Tribeman at CEDIA 2016, is called the Gate Crasher, which will be available in April at a suggested retail of $399.

Atlantic is tapping into the high-performance segment of the market with a speaker clad in a choice of high-gloss black or rosewood wood veneer. The three-way 100-watt RMS speaker sports two 1-inch dome tweeters, two 3.5-inch midranges, and one 4.5-inch bass driver on a curved baffle. A bottom-mounted 4.5-inch passive radiator reinforces bass output.

Music delivered by a Bluetooth source to one Google Cast speaker will be “re-cast” over Wi-Fi to other Google Cast speakers, as will sources plugged into the speaker’s 3.5mm analog input.

Google Cast products stream music directly from Cloud-based music sources when used with any of 165 Cast-enabled iOS and Android music apps. Music can be streamed to multiple speakers at a time.

Because the Google Cast products pull content directly from the cloud, you won’t drain your mobile device’s battery when the speakers play.

Atlantic teamed up with Andover Audio, an OEM developer, and IC maker Frontier Silicon Ltd. to develop the product, demonstrated at CEDIA 2016 in prototype form.
