"When Harman, Datasat, BMW, Volvo, Pioneer, Arcam, Emotiva, Xiaomi, Oppo, and OnePlus want digital audio optimization solutions, they turn to Dirac," boasted a sign at the Dirac exhibit. But the demo was not of the Swedish company's world-beating room correction systems but of a newly developed system to enhance headphone listening for virtual reality and gaming.

The pre-CES buzz surrounding Sony was that the company would introduce OLED. Turned out the buzz was correct: The main product the company unveiled at its CES 2017 press conference was its new XBR-A1E Series BRAVIA OLED TVs.

Lest you think that CES is a mindless slog of endless hallways filled with IoT devices, over-the-top speaker systems, and massive new TVs, take a gander at PicoBrew, the ultimate way to get ultra-fresh craft brew into your mouth!

If you are like me, then you love craft beer, but don’t really want to get mired in the complex and messy process of shopping for ingredients or figuring out brew times and hop cycles and bottle sanitizing procedures. You just want to cut straight to the part where you enjoy pint after pint of the sticky-ickiest fresh-hopped beer around. For those of us, the new Pico brings simplified homebrewing to an entirely new level and price point at only $799.

Subwoofers are big and heavy. You hurt your back when you pick them up. One of the most important reasons for having children is so you can have them move your subwoofer. Right? Well, how about a watch-size subwoofer that you wear on your wrist? No children needed. Meet the Basslet.

First, let’s make sure everyone knows who Franz Mesmer was. Ok – good. Now, let’s consider the JBL Pulse 3. I wanted to post a video of the Pulse 3 in action, but S&V’s crack legal staff wouldn’t permit it. It’s just too darn mesmerizing, and hence poses a liability issue for the magazine. Instead, you’ll have to be content with a photo, and my wholly inadequate description.

Terk has redesigned the antenna. The Omni may be the perfect shape to receive all of your channels. If you use an indoor, tabletop antenna to get over-the-air local broadcasts, it’s likely that you needed to physically turn the antenna to pick up different channels.

Samsung Electronics executive vp Joe Stinziano introduces new QLED UHDTVs at 2017 CES.

New advanced UHDTVs and UHD Blu-ray players were the most notable product announcements for A/V enthusiasts at Samsung's 2017 CES press conference today.

The brand's new QLED TVs are said to push the state of the art with a new metallic-core quantum dot formulation in the backlight, one that ultimately provides the ability to deliver brighter highlights and an even wider color gamut than Samsung's top-line 2016 models.
