This week, Panasonic hit the road to demonstrate their latest products to journalists in San Francisco, San Jose, and Los Angeles, California. Unfortunately, the shipping company they hired to get the gear from San Jose to LA dropped the ball (at least they didn't drop the gear!), failing to deliver the equipment on time, so most of the presentation was theoretical.

Panasonic has released six new combo DVRs and Blu-ray disc recorders, with the latter offering 100 gigabytes per disc, way in excess of conventional Blu-ray's 25GB per layer or 50GB per side. Before you get too excited, note that like BD component recorders in general, these products are for the Japanese market only and are unlikely to come to the U.S. anytime soon.

Panasonic today introduced its first 3D projector, the PT-AE7000U, to a select group of journalists from around the world at Panasonic Hollywood Labs, the company's R&D facility in Universal City, CA. Representing the tenth generation of the AE series, the AE7000U continues Panasonic's tradition of collaboration with professional cinematographers to tune the projector so it accurately reproduces the color and other picture parameters they intend for their material.
