These Sennheisers Aren’t Wired for Sound
Sennheiser’s new MX W1 wireless earphones are said to be the industry’s first “true wireless” stereo earphones based on Kleer’s wireless audio technology. The Kleer people seem to be very clear about their beliefs that their wireless technology blows the ears off of Bluetooth technology. They say it has something to do with spectral footprints, bandwidth, power consumption, audio quality, and wires.
I can’t tell you whether or not they’re telling the truth since I couldn’t figure out a way of getting these Sennheisers out of the glass case they were locked in. But they are about as wireless as you can get because these don’t even have a wired connection between the left and the right earphone. As much as I love the idea, it also makes me think Sennheiser better sell them singly for all those people (like my son) who inevitably are going to wind up losing one (probably before the first recharge).
