Mohu’s Wireless Antenna Combines Local Live TV with Streaming Services

Known for their flat, hang on the wall antennas, Mohu has again innovated a new antenna, streaming combo device that shows that the company understands what cord cutters want—free live TV along with their streaming services. The AirWave is a wireless antenna. It is connected to your home wifi network and streams the live TV to an AirWave app on your Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, iPhone, iPad, Android, or over the web.

The Mohu TV app is free. Essentially it combines both over-the-air and streaming content into a single guide. The guide includes show and episode synopses for the next 14 days of upcoming programming and allows users to pick favorite channels. While Mohu claims it’s the first of its kind, the X-box One Guide and Samsung’s upcoming 2017 Smart TV hub offer a similar idea of an aggregated TV guide. We’ll have to see how they differ.

This is the first wireless antenna that doesn’t need to be attached to your TV via coaxial cable. While the AirWave antenna has a sleek shape, it doesn’t have to sit next to the TV. For those with challenges getting local broadcasts, it can be placed in a room with the best reception in the house. To further improve picture quality, Mohu has developed ClearPix technology. ClearPix is a proprietary technology that dynamically reduces pixilation as it occurs.

Because the live TV channels are accessed through an app, you can watch your local channels anywhere on the Mohu TV mobile app.

The AirWave will be available Late Spring 2017 at Best Buy for $149.99.
