CES 2006: There's No Business Like the Consumer Electronics Business Introduction

Introduction

The doors are closed. The gear is packed. The long trek home was filled with visions of video displays, loudspeakers, and electronics of all descriptions dancing in our heads. CES 2006, love it or hate it, was a huge affair. A reported 150,000 attendees swarmed into Las Vegas to see all the latest consumer electronics goodies. They weren't denied the pleasure.

We had plenty to say about the show in our daily CES Blogs direct from the show floor. But there's much to be said for unwinding back home while our impressions sink in. Here we bring you the thoughts of four UAV writers on what they saw at the show and what stuck in their memories.

For more on the big show, be sure and check out those on-the-scene CES blogs if you haven't already, and Shane Buettner's report on Blu-ray and HD DVD at CES.

Also link over to the recent blogs from regular contributors Michael Fremer, Fred Manteghian , and TJN. These haven't been updated much in the past week or two because most of have been recovering from the show! But they're starting to roll again, and some of them contain additional thoughts on CES. Even those that don't will inevitably be colored for weeks by what happened on that eventful, early January week in Las Vegas.

And you're sure to read more about many of these products here at UAV in the months ahead as many of them come our way for review. It's going to be an exciting year.—TJN
