I could have reviewed the new Bob Dylan album this week. Not finding it possible to be even the slightly objective, I'll just say buy it cause it's awesome.

Instead, I figured I'd review something more obscure, even if it is a few months "old."

But what is "old" in this digital age? It's new to you when you find it, right? And I bet most of you hadn't found this, and you might regret missing it.

Another CEDIA behind us. Reports are saying attendance was up by 4% compared to 2011. Those of us who were there find that hard to believe, but perhaps it was the wider aisles and smaller booths that gave the appearance of fewer people.

Regardless of how many people were there, we saw a lot of cool stuff. And took a lot of pictures.

Well, I did anyway.

Runco unveiled several new projectors at CEDIA, all of them sporting some big brightness figures.

How big? Well in one case they’re claiming 94 foot-Lamberts. That’s LED LCD territory.

Kaleidescape has paired up with storied movie critic Leonard Maltin to offer their customers a specialized list of movies hand-picked by the man himself.

Even if you don’t have a Kaleidescape system, they’ve posted video interviews with Maltin on YouTube about the movies.

All the info and one of the videos after the jump.

With their usual Italian flair, Sim2 showed off their latest projectors.

The two big announcements: A dual-lamp, high-brightness projector for “media rooms” and a 4K DLP projector (sort of).

All the info after the jump.

Almost lost between the 4K TV hoopla and the Control4 partnership, Sony announced a new 3D SXRD projector, the VPL-HW50ES.

There’s not a ton different than the slightly less expensive Sony VPL-HW30ES projector we reviewed, but probably enough to justify the higher price for some.

All the info we’ve got, after you clicky clicky…

New CEDIA, new JVC projectors. Seven, in this case. As we’ve come to expect, the new models offer a little better performance and new features at lower price point.

Starting at $3,499, and perhaps most interesting, JVC’s 4K e-shift technology will now be available at $5,000.

All the info and more images after the jump.

Epson today announced three new projectors, including an update to the Sound+Vision Certified and Recommended Epson PowerLite ProCinema 5010.

The 6020, 5020, and 3020 are all 3-chip LCD models with 3D, lots of light output, and more.

All the details after the jump.

“Wow, it actually floats.” This is something I said. Out loud. Without question it’s the first time I’ve ever uttered that sentence in the course of a product review.

The Eco Terra boombox from Grace Digital is one of those products that’s amusing — and cool — just because it works at all. It’s a waterproof iPod dock, so you can listen to your tunes above and below the water.
