Indy Audio Labs, parent company of the high-performance audio brands, Aragon and Acurus, plans to launch a line of Web-enabled preamps and home theater processors later this year. Positioned as “the first separate preamps and pre-pros designed to meet the needs and expectations of today’s mobile generation, the line is based on Indy’s Enhanced Ethernet Control (E2C), which enables the components to talk to other devices on a home network.

Continuing its tradition of high-value products, Adcom has introduced the GTP-760, a tuner/preamp made with home theater fans in mind. Its ability to handle DVD-Audio discs in either 5.1 channel surround sound mode or traditional two-channel stereo mode will attract music lovers, too. Movie soundtracks can be decoded by the GTP-760 in both DTS and Dolby Digital formats.

Never a company to rest on its previous accomplishments, Mississauga, Ontario-based Sonic Frontiers International is pushing the limits of home theater performance with the Anthem AVM 20, its newest multi-zone preamplifier /processor/tuner. With inputs for up to 7.1 channels of audio, and full bass management capabilities, the AVM ("Audio Video Master") is certain to please the most exacting movie and music fans.

AOC announced that the price of its Q2963PM UltraWide 29-inch LED-backlit LCD monitor has been reduced to $399 through the end of June at Best Buy, Newegg, TigerDirect, and other retailers. The regular suggested retail price is $499.

Passive radiators fell out of favor with loudspeaker manufacturers in the early 1980's, but the technology always showed promise for extending the low-end response from small cabinets. Tigard, OR-based Aperion Audio, formerly known as EdgeAudio, has revived the design with the introduction of a new 150-watt powered subwoofer selling for just under $400.

Acoustic Research, one of the most well known names in American audio, is also a major player in the home theater arena. The Lake Mary, Fl-based speaker manufacturer has recently introduced the HC6 system, a six-piece surround array in glossy piano black, with a suggested price below $800.
