Making good on promises it made last year, <A HREF="http://www.samsung.com">Samsung SDI Company Ltd.</A> has announced the development of a 70-inich-diagonal, plasma-display panel (PDP) that it claims is the world's largest. The new display exceeds the previous size record for every kind of direct-view monitors, including cathode-ray tubes (CRTs) and liquid crystal displays (LCDs).

Samsung sent over information earlier today confirming its plans for its next-gen disc players throughout this year. The BDP-2400 Blu-ray Disc player has been officially "removed from the 2007 Holiday Line-up," but the BD-UP5000 Duo HD Blu-ray/HD DVD combi player remains on track for a mid to late December debut.

Just as Samsung started shipping its long-anticipated BD-UP5000 combo Blu-ray/HD DVD player, the company announced that the product will be discontinued as of May or June of this year, stressing that this time frame is subject to change. Retailers will be allowed to sell their existing inventory, but production will cease. A new model is scheduled to be released sometime in the second half of 2008, but no other details were revealed. Meanwhile, the company will continue to support the BD-UP5000 with firmware updates.

Samsung Electronics America and HARMAN Luxury Audio Group will co‑exhibit at CEDIA Expo 2025, September 3–6 in Denver, Colorado, in what the companies describe as the largest booth on the show floor (#2512). The combined space is positioned as a single stop for integrators to see 2025 Samsung displays and soundbars alongside JBL Synthesis, JBL, and Arcam systems.
