Security researchers have determined that at least one major brand of broadband-enabled TV can be hacked, exposing the credit card information of users.

The revelation emerged from Mocana, a security firm in San Francisco. Researchers there found a vulnerability in TV web software that allows criminals to set up fake retail sites and obtain financial data. They could also eavesdrop on the TV as it sent information to websites.

What brand of TV was not disclosed. But according to The New York Times, "it was one of the five bestselling web-ready TVs."

Last week, online video retailer <A HREF="http://Videoflicks.com/">Videoflicks.com</A> announced that it has opened Videoflicks.com Auctions "to help people find, discover, buy&mdash;and now sell&mdash;virtually any video online." Canada's parliament is planning a wide-ranging overhaul of the nation's copyright law. And there's plenty of good news here. The proposed legislation would straightforwardly legalize many practices that consumers take for granted but that have ambiguous legal status in the U.S. However, some are critical of the fact that it also grants protected status to DRM.

Canadian HDTV fans got a boost when <A HREF="http://www.rogers.com">Rogers Cable</A> announced last week that it has launched the largest high definition television offering by a cable operator in Canada to date.
