But it would be wrong to call this a revision.

Nobody likes failure and Microsoft has had more than its fair share. Its latest casualty—the Zune media player—never really made much of a splash and has been dying a slow death for some time now. The player was actually discontinued in 2012 but the Music Pass service limped along until the PC giant quietly pronounced it dead yesterday.

Sony announced an imminent update that will add high dynamic range (HDR) capability to its X850C, X900C, and X910C 4K/Ultra HD (UHD) TVs. The update was previously announced for X930C and X940C model TVs.

Pay-TV bundles bulging with never-watched channels have been the bane of consumer groups. They’ve long supported the concept of à la carte cable, which would let subscribers buy just the channels they want. Verizon’s FiOS Custom TV package isn’t exactly à la carte—but it does put the typical pay-TV bundle on a drastic diet. And that “skinny” package, as some call it, is making some networks very unhappy.

Dolby announced that five new Hollywood features, including the first two titles from Twentieth Century Fox, will be released in Dolby Cinema bringing the total number of movies that combine high-dynamic range (HDR) images and Dolby Atmos surround sound to 13.

That was the question facing attendees of the recent IFA 2015 trade show in Berlin as they ogled over a massive two-sided OLED display shown by LG. Apart from displaying a different image on each side, the 111-inch prototype also put a new spin on curved screens with its ultra-thin wave-like screen.
