Tom Norton and I saw Rio in 3D last week at our local AMC multiplex, which offers something called Enhanced Theater Experience (ETX) with a larger screen, digital projection, and a beefier sound system. I guess this is somewhere between a conventional theater and Imax, and it was quite good overall.

What if you saw your best friend’s wife cheating on him? Should you tell him? It’s an interesting premise that might fuel either a dramatic movie or a comedic one. Which one? Director Ron Howard hasn’t solved that dilemma, coming up with a film that isn’t funny enough to be a comedy nor dark enough (in its entirety) to be a drama.

Bose to Donate His Company to MIT

Dr. Amar Bose will donate the majority of his company's shares to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he has been both student and teacher.

The 81-year-old founder of the Bose Corporation graduated with MIT's class of 1951, eventually taking bachelor's, master's, and Ph.D degrees. He joined the faculty in 1956 and taught electrical engineering until 2001. In a letter to his employees, Dr. Bose cited his debt to Professors Y.W. Lee, Norbert Wiener, and Jerome Wiesner.

I have a 40-inch Mitsubishi LT-40164 LED-edgelit LCD TV that I really love but for one thing—the screen darkens dramatically during dark scenes and even during credits when there may only be one or two lines of text on the screen. I have tried tweaking dozens of settings, including full backlight and brightness, but to no avail. Is this normal for LED TVs?

Join the boys as they publish award winning novels, struggle with a ban of fried chicken, fight off an invasion from New Jersey, and reveal the true identity of Mysterion. For them, it's all part of growing up in South Park!

Despite its crude writing, sophomoric behavior, and over-the-top potty humor, you have to hand it to Trey Parker and Matt Stone for catering to their audience and giving them what they want. I'm well outside the intended demographic, but still find myself laughing occasionally despite the low-brow one liners.

Comcast VOD Boasts All 4 Major Networks

Whose video on demand service has content from all four of the major commercial broadcast TV networks: ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC? The answer is Comcast.

With the addition of more than 20 series from ABC and Fox on April 27, Comcast is the only player who can make that claim for its VOD operation. The shows include Fox's Glee and The Simpsons and ABC's Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy. Fox's Masterchef will be added on June 7 and Hell's Kitchen on July 19. Additional NBC shows on the way include America's Got Talent on June 1, Love in the Wild on June 2, and The Marriage Ref on June 27.
