The original SoundDock was a big seller for Bose and they're hoping that will carry over for their newest iPod sound system. It clocks in at a relatively hefty $599, but Bose is swearing up and down that it sounds great. It has two...

The demand for mass-market audio products is moving deeper into wireless territory and the smart money is moving with it. Bose, perhaps the epitome of smart money, is moving in that direction too. The key point of yesterday's press event was not so much the introduction of a new product—though there was one—but the development and extension of the Bose wireless strategy.

Bose, the pioneer of noise-cancelling headphones, has filed suit against Apple’s latest and largest acquisition, Beats Electronics. Bose alleges that the Beats Studio and Studio Wireless headphones use noise-cancelling technology that infringes on five patents held by Bose. They have also filed with the International Trade Commission requesting a cease-and-desist on sales and imports of Beats in the US. They are requesting an undisclosed amount of compensation for damages. Considering how long the Studio line has been available, did Bose wait until it could go after the deeper pockets of Apple?

Like two pit bulls tussling over a piece of rotten meat, CEDIA and Bose have been at war over the right to use the word "lifestyle." The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has finally ruled that Bose may not prevent CEDIA from using the déclassé cliché.

Like the vast majority of Americans, I have never driven an electric car, so it had never crossed my mind that turning on the radio whild driving would use up juice normally reserved for making the car go. To remedy this problem in their upcoming...

Ever since it was released, the original Bose SoundDock seemed to be the 'go-to' iPod dock for anyone looking for decent sound. Kinda like how their Wave radio became the reference system for all clock radios, most docks were compared to - and fell...

Dr. Amar Bose will donate the majority of his company's shares to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he has been both student and teacher.

The 81-year-old founder of the Bose Corporation graduated with MIT's class of 1951, eventually taking bachelor's, master's, and Ph.D degrees. He joined the faculty in 1956 and taught electrical engineering until 2001. In a letter to his employees, Dr. Bose cited his debt to Professors Y.W. Lee, Norbert Wiener, and Jerome Wiesner.

The announcement is short on specs, but today Bose pulled the sheet off of their new speaker designed to stream music from your PC. The set-up uses opts, rather surprisingly, for an RF USB dongle for its wireless capabilities. That seems like an...

Bose recently invited us by their Columbus Circle store in Manhattan to give a listen to their in-ear headphones. While not a new product per se, they wanted to discuss some new and upcoming enhancements that I'll touch on in a moment, but this was my first chance to really evaluate the 'phones and, as someone whose been using earbuds extensively for a decade now, I was genuinely impressed by the sound. While not noise-canceling or sound-isolating, they incorporate the same Bose Tri-Port technology as in their QuietComfort line: small ports in the earpieces that help in bass reproduction without adding great size, so they're a handy accessory to iPods et. al.
