Make off like a bandit with a masked home theater.

I ’m always on the lookout for new and innovative improvements to make to my home theater. One of the best I’ve seen to date is from screen manufacturer Carada, which directly sells its products online and over the phone. The company’s Masquerade screen-masking system features motorized panels that eliminate those obnoxious black bars that appear when you watch a “scope” movie on a 16:9 screen. The system accommodates any projected aspect ratio between 1.78:1 and 2.70:1. It also provides a big increase in perceived contrast and depth. Additionally, Carada’s innovative, motorized system costs less than most motorized masking systems on the market. Since you can mount it over your existing fixed-screen frame, you won’t need to invest in a new frame or screen.

You know what I'm talking about. You're watching your favorite TV show - well, okay, actually you're just mindlessly dozing in front of the tube (maybe even with a little drool), and then suddenly a LOUD COMMERCIAL jolts you wake! What the heck? Why are the commercials always so much louder than the programs?

Maybe you already know what a mashup is and even if you don't know the proper terminology, you've definitely heard one. A mashup is one or more songs mixed together to create an entirely new song. Technically, these new tracks are bootlegs, as they are not authorized remixes by the artist or sanctioned by the record labels. That said there are hundreds, if not thousands, of these unique hybrid tunes out there.

Occasionally, there are no words to tell a story.  You just need to watch this "PSA" on YouTube. If anyone you know has ever asked your advice on how to set the clock on their VCR, how to wire their speakers, or how to install...

If digital's so good, why does it take so freakin' long to change channels? It's become painfully obvious that all this new technology has slowed down the one thing people take for granted: clicking the clicker and getting instantaneous results. ...

LG had quite the interesting display to show off at the International Meeting on Information Display in Korea. Looking at the specs, it's certainly nothing to write home about. Pixel count is 512 x 384, reflectance ratio is 20%, color gamut is 12%,...

Just days after Steve Jobs called Blu-ray a "bag of hurt," Amex Digital has announced a Blu-ray solution for Macs. Not some schlocky-looking external drive, this sleek, slim beauty is designed to complement Apple MacBooks, but it will...

High-end home theater owners might not be the only ones who'll get to experience D-Box motion-simulation chairs.  Some commercial theater owners are considering adding these electromechanical rides to their theaters. For most folks, they were...

No goofy glasses required! This HD screen (SVGA with 800 x 600 pixels) uses a special alignment of pixels to display 3D without needing specs. Right now, this is a prototype, and the press release is in Japanese, but from what the Google...
