Rega was approached by the legendary rock band Queen to produce a limited edition turntable to coincide with the September release of Queen: The Studio Collection, an 18-piece 180g vinyl LP box set from Virgin EMI Records, according to Sound Organisation, which distributes Rega and other European audio brands in the U.S.

The company is building 2,000 custom-designed turntables but making only 200 of them available in the states. Fitted with a hand-built RB101 tonearm and Rega Carbon moving-magnet cartridge, the turntable features a black acrylic-laminated plinth with a silk-screened “Queen by Rega” logo and a black and gold silk-screened platter inspired by artwork created by Freddie Mercury.

The turntable will be sold through authorized Rega dealers for $650 when it becomes available in late September and can be preordered at SoundStageDirect.
