The small, rounded remote is simplicity itself. Dedicated input-selection buttons are joined by a menu-navigation cluster and several function buttons that provide direct access to various controls such as aspect ratio and picture mode. Would that all video-display remotes were this simple and elegant.

The onscreen menus provide straightforward control of the projector. Because a primary design goal was correct and accurate setup, there are fewer controls than usual, offering the user less opportunity to skew the image in a "creative" but incorrect way.

There are seven picture modes, and all of them (not just the three Custom modes) are adjustable independently for each input. The Tint control is inaccessible (grayed out) for the HDMI and component inputs. In theory, this control is not necessary for HDMI, though many video displays enable it.

A Film Mode control is available only for 480i/576i component (the projector does not support 480i/576i via HDMI). This control is grayed out with all HDMI signals; interestingly, it retains whatever setting you give it for 480i/576i component, though I don't know if it's active when it says "on" in the grayed-out state. There are also three fixed Gamma settings (Film, Video, and Graphic) and a Digital Noise Reduction control.

The projector supports 1080p/24, but in an unusual way. It has a 1080p/24 control, which is grayed out unless the input is 1080p/24. If the control is then turned Off, the projector converts the signal to 1080p/60 using 3:2 pulldown. If the control is On with a 1080p/24 input, the signal is frame-doubled and displayed at 48Hz.

You can call up an Information screen that indicates the current operating conditions of the projector. This includes the resolution and horizontal and vertical refresh rates of the source, whether it's RGB or YPbPr, the video mode, the major control settings, and the hours on the lamp.
