RCA is now shipping the impressively named LYRA X3000, the company's flagship Personal Multimedia Recorder that was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in January. The new portable has a 3.6-inch TFT color LCD screen with 320 x 240 resolution, weighs less than eight ounces, and is 0.75 inches thick.

TiVo officially announced revised, "simplified" pricing plans that will go into effect for new subscribers to the TiVo service beginning the week of March 13. Previously, TiVo subscribers paid for a TiVo box and the TiVo service separately. Under the new plan, new customers will be able to "bundle" the purchase of a TiVo 80-hour Series2 box and the service together for a price based on a one-, two-, or three-year service commitment.

In an effort to take the wind out of the sales of the HD DVD promotional armada heading to retail stores this month, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE), MGM Home Entertainment, and Lionsgate announced they're targeting May 23rd of this year to deliver the first batch of Blu-ray Disc (BD) titles at retail.

Silly girl. My wife thinks our home theater system ought to sound great and be easy to operate. She also wants one remote control to work the gear, the lights, and whatever else she desires dominion over.

MovieBeam wants a piece of the $10 billion U.S. movie-rental industry, and they think they can do it by charging you $199.99 for the box (after $50 introductory rebate), a one-time service activation fee of $29.99, and between $1.99 and $3.99 per movie (add a $1 surcharge for HD - that's right, HD - titles).

Two new wall-mountable LCR systems from Paradigm are now shipping. The company says that, unlike earlier Cinema models that were designed for smaller rooms, the new models were developed for use in larger rooms.
