At least that appears to be the thinking at Atlantic Technology and Zvox, two New England-based companies that announced pre-holiday-season discounts this week.

Atlantic Technology kicked off its Fall Savings Event offering discounts on some of its home theater speakers and headphones. The sale runs through the end of the year and follows a recent permanent price reduction on the brand’s flagship 8600e series of speakers, which includes the floorstanding speaker introduced a few years ago.

Pricing has been discounted on a dozen products with discounts starting at 14% on the 8600ELR tower speaker, which has been marked down to $4,800/pair — $800 off the already permanently reduced price of $5,600, and scaling up to 60% on the BTWS582 full-size wireless headphones. Four other products have been heavily discounted:

FS252 wireless Bluetooth bookshelf speaker, $399 (50% off)
FS-HR280 wired over-ear headphones, $129 (57% off $299 list price)
LCR2 compact two-way satellite/bookshelf speaker, $99 (50% off)
HAL1 wired earbuds, $99 (50% off)

The company is also offering 27% off its 4400 bundle that mates a pair of 4400 LR speakers with the matching 4400C center speaker. Pricing has been reduced to $1,199 (from $1,650) and adding one of seven AT subwoofers bumps the savings up to 40%.
