The top chart shows the Cine5000's gray scale relative to its color temperature at various levels of intensity, or brightness (20 IRE is dark gray; 100 IRE is bright white). The gray scale as set by the factory, in the Warm color-temperature mode and the User picture mode, measures somewhat warm across the entire gray scale. After making adjustments using the Photo Research PR-650, the gray scale measures much closer to D6500, the accurate color temperature, across the entire range. Through most of the gray scale range, though, it is lacking some green.

The bottom chart shows the gray scale (or color temperature) relative to the color points of the display's red, green, and blue color-filter-wheel segments. These are slightly off those specified by SMPTE. Red is slightly reddish-orange. Blue is very slightly oversaturated. Green is slightly undersaturated and somewhat yellowish-green.

After calibration, and using a full-field 100-IRE white (21.7 foot-lamberts) and a full-field 0-IRE black (0.017 ft-L), the contrast ratio was 1,276:1. Using a 16-box checkerboard pattern (ANSI contrast), the contrast ratio was 231:1. The best contrast ratio was achieved in the Boost setting. The best black level was achieved in the Eco setting, which produced 16.44 ft-L and 0.013 ft-L (1,265:1).—GM
