The much-loved Technics SL-1200 turntable has been reborn in a limited edition. The SL-1200AE (for Anniversary Edition) will be produced in 1200 units with magnesium tonearm, brass-layered platter, heavier base, better insulated feet, and updated motor. At $3499, shipping this summer, it is not as affordable as the classic 1200, but another variation more in keeping with the original's accessibility, with aluminum tonearm, will arrive by year end.
