The menu structure is simple and easy to navigate. When you activate the player's menu, three selections appear on the left side of the screen—Video, Music, and Setup. The Video and Music menus let you select a specific title from a DVD or music track from a CD.

Like most players, you need to stop playback to access the player's Setup menu. I hope someone can figure out a way to get around this. I suppose it's really not an issue for most people, but since I change settings a lot when testing and comparing products, it would be great if I could make those changes on the fly. There are separate buttons on the remote for activating the Video and Music menus to select tracks when a disc is in the tray.

Typical of most remotes supplied with disc players—and most other major consumer-electronics devices—there is a group of buttons placed in a circle to allow fast and intuitive up/down/left/right navigation through the menus. The transport buttons (Play, Pause, Stop, etc.) are placed in the middle of the remote, but the labels are super small, and without a backlight, it takes some time to memorize their positions. It seems to me as if the button layout is more about design aesthetics than logic or ease of use.

When playing music CDs, a scrub bar shows the elapsed time when fast forwarding or rewinding. This is a nice feature that I'd like to see on more players.
