PS3 to Get 3D Upgrade

A forthcoming upgrade to the Sony PS3 gaming console will make it more 3D-friendly.

PS3 has already received a firmware update for stereoscopic 3D games. In September, a further update will add 3D movie support via both Blu-ray and PlayTV streaming, plus 3D photos and 3D YouTube capability. You'll be able to shoot 3D video or stills and play them on the PS3.

A friend tells us that the latest PS3 console is hard to find at retail. He got his by putting his name on Amazon's waiting list. He reports that the new version runs much cooler and with less fan noise, probably indicating a significant energy savings.
