MLB to Go 3D

If you like baseball, need a 3D fix, and want to indulge both appetites at the same time, DirecTV, the Yes Network, and the FSN Network have just what you need. They're going to air Major League Baseball games in 3D in nine lucky states.

The states are New York, Connecticut, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, and parts of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Montana, and Ohio--because they fit into the Yes or FSN "home team footprints." First game will be the New York Yankees vs. the Seattle Mariners on July 10-11. Look for the games to air at 10 p.m. EDT on July 10 and 4 p.m. EDT on July 11. You'll need a 3D TV and glasses appropriate for your set, natch.

DirecTV is planning a free June software upgrade that will provide access to dedicated 3D channels including N3D (powered by Panasonic), ESPN 3D, plus cinema and on-demand channels.

See DirecTV press release. Thanks to Pete Putman and Tom Norton for the alert.
