HT Labs Measures

L/C/R Sensitivity: 91 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz

Surround Sensitivity: 88 dB from 500 Hz to 2 kHz

This graph shows the quasi-anechoic (corrected for on-wall boundary gain and employing close-miking of all woofers) frequency response of the G-28 L/C/R (purple trace), G-12 surround (red trace), and SW-308 subwoofer (blue trace). All passive loudspeakers were measured with grilles at a distance of 1 meter with a 2.83-volt input and scaled for display purposes.

The G-28’s listening-window response (a five-point average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal and vertical responses) measures +3.57/–1.23 decibels from 200 hertz to 10 kilohertz. When oriented horizontally, an average of axial and +/–15-degree horizontal responses measures +3.56/–1.58 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3-dB point is at 60 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 51 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.34 ohms at 299 Hz and a phase angle of –47.82 degrees at 158 Hz.

The G-12’s listening-window response measures +3.16/–2.24 dB from 200 Hz to 10 kHz. The –3-dB point is at 129 Hz, and the –6-dB point is at 104 Hz. Impedance reaches a minimum of 4.26 ohms at 284 Hz and a phase angle of –50.76 degrees at 170 Hz.

The SW-308’s close-miked response, normalized to the level at 80 Hz, indicates that the lower –3-dB point is at 31 Hz and the –6-dB point is at 29 Hz. The upper –3-dB point is at 147 Hz with the Lowpass control set to maximum.—MJP

Once upon a time...real speakers pulled down to 20 hz with authority that would empty your colon. Today, you have to buy a subwoofer to go along with your ten tiny speakers that might get to a sloppy 30 hz. As for passive radiators...they are awesome provided the drivers are long throws and in a box that weighs in at nothing less than 100 lbs and 30 x 12 x 12. You want traditional? - try a pair of Wharfdales the size of your washer and dryer connected to an amp via a pre amp with with transformers the size of your fists. The SPL meter fuzzed out at 118 db. However, I agree with you review and I'm certain you'll enjoy the WiFi and GPS tracking devices that come with your tiny dick speakers.
