GoldenEar SuperSub X Now Available

GoldenEar has announced that the SuperSub X unveiled at CES last January is now shipping.

A smaller, 14 x 13 x 13-inch version of the original SuperSub XXL, the SuperSub X ($1,249) is built around the company’s patented “dual-plane inertially-balanced” layout that mates two outward-facing 8-inch drivers with subbass radiators that fire from the top and bottom of a heavily braced Medite cabinet.

“This force-cancelling inertial balancing preserves, conserves, and focuses all the energy produced by the transducers in order to effectively move the air in the room rather than vibrating and shaking the cabinet,” GoldenEar said. The sub is rated down to 12 Hz.

The subwoofer is powered by a 1,400-watt digital amp originally developed for the flagship Triton One speaker. The amp is controlled by a super-fast 56-bit DSP device with a 192-kHz sampling rate that prevents clipping and manages a number of parameters, including frequency response.
