Installing an A/V Receiver

At some point, you’re gonna make the splurge to get a new receiver. Since this is the connection nexus for your entire system, it’ll mean dealing with a lot of wiring. And with modern receivers, it’ll also mean dealing with a lot of configuring: assigning inputs, video-processing selections, speaker size/delay/level assignments, EQ settings, etc. It also might involve some network configuration. A receiver is the most intimidating component in your system, and if you’ve never been behind your rack before, this may not be the place to start. However, with some patience — and the owner’s manual — you can likely wade through and ultimately figure it all out.

Tools required: Owner’s manual, Sharpie (labeling), zip ties (cable management), necessary cabling. 

Prerequisite: Ability to access the rear of your components and understanding your receiver’s setup menu.
