Roku adds MLB.TV Premium service to its Player
Roku's $99 Netflix Player is moving up in the world, with a new service that's sure to please baseball fans. The company has just added Major League Baseball as a partner, and is now streaming live MLB.TV Premium content straight through its Player. MLB Premium members can activate their Roku Players for the content on the MLB web site, after which they'll be able to watch all remaining regular season games on their Player.
At just $135 ($99 for the player and $35 for MLB.TV Premium yearly membership), it seems like a steal for baseball fans whose favorite teams aren't local, and who don't want to get satellite TV sports packages. Of course, the Roku Player is still a ready Netflix device, able to stream the service's 12,000-plus videos to anyone with a subscription.
