Revamped iPhone Controller Is Pretty Sweet

iPhone 7 owners who play video games on the go might want to check out the second-generation Gamevice controller due out next week.

Gamevice for iPhone 7, the only Apple-approved game controller with Lightning connectivity, has been updated with new buttons, redesigned thumbsticks, and a headphone jack.

Available from Apple next Tuesday (January 31) for $100, the updated controller is lighter than its predecessor and no longer requires its own battery—it’s powered by the phone. The USB port has also been replaced with a Lightning port so users can charge the phone while gaming.

Thumb sticks have been upgraded to be more ergonomic and comfortable for improved control. Gamevice calls it “thumbier.”

“With Gamevice, you get the perfect mix of console-quality controls for your favorite mobile games,” the company said.

The Gamevice Live App provides download access to more than 900 fully compatible iOS games, including top-sellers such as Minecraft, NBA2K17, Marvel Contest of Champions, and Assassin's Creed Identity.

Gamevice has controllers for the iPhone 7, 7+ (also fits the 6 and 6 Plus series), iPad mini, iPad Air/Pro (9.7-inch), and iPad Pro (12.9-inch).
