Psycho gets 5.1 Psurround on Blu-ray October 19

One of the most iconic thrillers of all time is finally getting a surround mix. After decades of languishing in mono, Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho is hitting Blu-ray with a DTS HD 5.1 soundtrack.

The release commemorates the 50th anniversary of Hitchcock's classic, with a ton of new features. The aforementioned 5.1 soundtrack is completely remastered and remixed, first by Universal Studios BluWave Audio restoring the original monaural soundtrack, then by Audionamix splitting and mixing the track into 5.1 surround. The disc also comes with the full compliment of extras, including a documentary on the making of Psycho, multiple galleries of original production photos and advertisements, and even a newsreel on Alfred Hitchcock's directing policies. If you want to watch the film as it was originally recorded, the disc also comes with the film's original monaural track.

The Psycho 50th Anniversary Edition hits stores October 19.
