Polk Goes Boom with ‘Ready 4 Anything’ Speakers

Polk Boom, the spinoff lifestyle brand targeting adventure-oriented consumers, today introduced two compact Bluetooth speakers designed for rugged, on-the-go use.

Dubbed Swimmer Duo and Swimmer Jr., the speakers are water/dirt/shockproof and sport a flexible “tail” design that allows users to secure the speaker to a paddle, bike handle, or other object.

The Swimmer Duo, an upgraded version of the original Swimmer, is wrapped in a silicone casing to withstand hard drops, has a built-in speakerphone, and supports stereo playback when two units are wirelessly linked. The tail is an inch longer than on the original model and detachable so it can be swapped out with an included suction cup, allowing the speaker to be affixed to a flat surface such as a window or shower wall. Available in black, blue, orange, and a limited-edition two-tone green/orange, the speaker sells for $60.

About the size of a racquet ball, the Swimmer Jr. has a hard shell with a silicone bumper around the grille and also has a built-in speakerphone. Available in black, blue, or gray with a green bumper, the speaker sells for $40.

Both models are certified for shock and drop resistance and have an IPX Level 7 rating, which means they can be submerged in 3 feet of water for up to 30 minutes.

“Pushing the limits of where you can take sound is the core of what drives us,” said Polk Boom founder, Ryan Minarik. “With the development of Swimmer Duo and Swimmer Jr., our primary goals were to pack as much punch into the smallest sized speakers while extending the flexibility of placement and amplifying the soundstage via stereo linking. We believe these updates continue to provide and expand a ‘Ready 4 Anything’ listening experience.”

Both models are available at polkboom.com, AT&T.com, and amazon.com as well as in AT&T stores and will be sold at Target and Target.com starting in October. More information is available at polkboom.com.
