PhaseTech Introduces Variable-Length Soundbar

PhaseTech, the American speaker specialist known for developing and patenting one of the world’s most widely used tweeter designs in 1967 — the soft-dome tweeter — has introduced an adjustable, three-channel soundbar that can be matched to the width and color of any TV for a seamless look.

The new Variable Length Soundbar (VLS) is just under 3 inches deep and available in two non-powered, passive versions: the VLS70-LCR for TVs with screens between 60 and 70 inches (diagonal) and the VLS100-LCR for screens between 75 and 100 inches, both made to order using specs provided by a custom integrator. The soundbar enclosure is 6¾ inches high and 54-66 inches (VLS70-LCR) or 67-94 inches (VLS100-LCR) wide.

Both models combine discrete left, center, and right (LCR) speakers in an adjustable-width soundbar featuring a black extruded-aluminum enclosure and a black cloth grille with custom color options available. Each LCR speaker includes PhaseTech’s patented Absolute Phase Crossover network and five audiophile-quality drivers: a 0.75-inch silk/synthetic soft-dome tweeter flanked by a 3-inch polypropylene woofer on the inside and a 3-inch passive radiator on the outside.

Described as easy to install, the soundbar can be attached to the TV’s mounting bracket or directly to the wall via a supplied wall mount and typically ships within a few days of when an order is placed. Specs include a recommended power range of 15-100 watts, a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, and rated sensitivity of 90 dB (2.83v/1m).

PhaseTech recommends powering the VLS soundbar with its P3-35 mini-amplifier, which delivers 3 x 35 watts of power and at 1¼ x 4 x 7¼ inches is small enough to fit behind a wall-mounted TV. The amp supports Bluetooth streaming and provides Dolby Digital decoding in addition to analog and digital inputs (via a Euroblock connector).

Retail pricing for the two versions of the VLS soundbar is $1,875 for the VLS70-LCR and $2,125 for the VLS100-LCR; these prices do not include the cost of installation.

The VLS soundbar is covered by a limited 10-year warranty. For more information on PhaseTech, visit phasetech.mseaudio.com.
