Pearl Jam's "Backspacer" to hit record stores and "Rock Band" simultaneously

PearljamPearl Jam seems to love Rock Band. Last spring, the band released the entirety of its debut album Ten as downloadable content for the game. In September, the band is taking it a step further by releasing its newest album, Backspacer, as Rock Band DLC on the same day it hits stores.

Pricing has yet to be announced, but Backspacer will probably retail for around 1,440 MS Points, the Xbox equivalent of $18. On one hand, it means Pearl Jam-loving gamers can rock out to the newest album with their plastic instruments. On the other hand, it means they have to actually play the game to hear the music; they can't just set Rock Band to play the album and enjoy it passively. Backspacer hits in both CD and Rock Band DLC forms September 20.
