OSD Upgrades Streaming Amp, Unveils New Speakers

OSD Audio of Brea, California has introduced an upgraded version of its Nero Stream XD wireless streaming Amp/DAC (digital audio converter) and a new bookshelf speaker.

When combined, the Stream XD ($300) and Nero Studio5 speakers ($200/pair) create an affordable and “incredibly dynamic music streaming solution,” according to the company.

The Stream XD packs a 2 x 50-watt Class D amplifier and 24-bit/192-kHz Cirrus Logic DAC in a compact chassis measuring 7.5 x 5.5 x 2 inches. It can be controlled via an iOS or Android mobile app with an “intuitive interface” and supports wireless streaming via Wi-Fi and aptX/Bluetooth 4.2 as well as wired connectivity via analog, optical digital, and USB inputs.

Other highlights include a subwoofer output, 3.5mm headphone jack, and gold-plated speaker binding posts.

The Nero Studio5 speaker is a two-way design that combines a 5.25-inch rigid paper-cone woofer and a 1-inch silk-dome tweeter in ported cabinet measuring 10.5 x 6.6 x 9.7 inches (H x W x D) with a woodgrain finish. The speaker has a rated impedance of 4 ohms and handles up to 100 watts. Rated sensitivity is 87 dB with a low-frequency limit of 90 Hz.
