Onkyo Intros Entry-Level AVR with Auto Set-Up

Onkyo today introduced an entry-level 5.2-channel AV receiver with automatic room calibration that sells for $349.

The TX-SR373’s rear panel is described as well-organized to simplify connection and supports HDR10 high dynamic range content, HDCP 2.2 copy protection, and 4K/60p video passthrough as well as Bluetooth/aptX streaming and DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD surround processing.

For the first time at this price, the receiver includes Onkyo’s AccuEQ room calibration technology, which automatically sets speaker distances according to listening position, adjusts and equalizes the output, and selects an appropriate subwoofer crossover.

Rated to deliver 5 x 80 watts into 8 ohms (0.08% THD), the receiver is equipped with Onkyo’s “advanced music optimizer,” which is said to improve the sound quality of compressed audio files, and offers a selection of listening modes, including Direct for high-quality sources such as SACD over HDMI.

Other features include pairs of digital and analog audio inputs, two composite-video inputs for legacy gear, two pre-outs for connecting dual subwoofers, an AM/FM tuner with 30 memory presets, and a full-size remote control.
